An urban planning competition - winning team 03 Architekten - planned the development of an inner-city area south of Welfenstraße in Munich-Au.
The responsible persons at the city planning office initially wanted to hold an architectural competition for each of the four construction phases. Instead, we proposed an integral planning process that stands for a holistic approach to the planning of buildings and requires the simultaneous participation of all disciplines and stakeholders involved in the planning process. We commissioned four well-known, but very different offices in their architectural language, which were given the task of designing striking plaster reliefs of the façades, which were oriented to the surrounding Wilhelminian style buildings and thus, with their overriding design theme "Relief of the city", established a link to the urban context in the Au-Haidhausen district.
Due to the early involvement of all necessary experts in the planning team and their simultaneous and coordinated processing of the planning task, we were able to carry out the B-plan procedure as well as the planning application and to realize the building project in only one construction stage.
